Expansion takes Dark Roast, other Mello Joy blends to national markets - Friday, May 22, 2009
|
Lafayette, La. — Fans of Mello Joy Coffee Company’s Dark Roast, as well as other blends, now may not have to travel to South Louisiana for a warm cup of their favorite brew.
Mello Joy announced this week it has expanded its product line with distribution in major markets including Charlotte, N.C., Boston, Mass., and Denver, Colo. The existing Mello Joy partnership with The Shaw Group has assisted Mello Joy in expanding its brand of the Original Cajun Coffee.
“We have gone to those markets and established distributor and partner relationships to service not only the Shaw Group but also to begin to expand the presence of Mello Joy into offices, restaurants and other outlets,” Mello Joy President Pat Pettijohn said.
Products such as the Dark Roast blend seem to be popular in these new markets and other metropolitan areas, including Northern California. “What we’re finding is that Mello Joy Dark Roast is being well-received in these markets,” Pettijohn said. “We line up our Dark Roast against some of the major players in those markets.”
Mello Joy products have been a favorite for Louisiana coffee drinkers since the company was established in the 1930s. After more than two decades out of the market, Mello Joy reintroduced the Original Cajun Coffee brand in 2000 and have continued to expand beyond its Lafayette, La., home offices since that time.
